This will mark the third year for the Rim Rock Marathon, continuing an 19 year tradition of having a run that occurs inside the Colorado National Monument. This venue provides epic views and a world class running course. We look forward to this third annual event and the second year of offering a relay option!

Teams are to be made of TWO persons only. The Liberty Cap rest
stop will be the hand off point for the 2011 race. Each runner
must pass their timing chip off to their teammate. UNDER
NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL BIKES, CARS OR OTHER MEANS OF
TRANSPORTATION BE HIDDEN OR STASHED ~ SHUTTLES
WILL BE AVAILABLE TO BRING YOU TO THE FINISH LINE AREA.

Marathon Cut Off Information:
All runners must reach the Fruita Canyon View pull out above the West Entrance at mile 19.7 by 1:00pm (race start is at 8:00am, giving a runner 5 hours to complete this distance).

If the runner does not reach this point by 1:00pm, the runner will be transported off of the race course/Colorado National Monument (absolutely no exceptions).

If the runner reaches this point by 1:00pm, the runner will be allowed to complete the course. The remaining distance from this point on is all down hill to the finish.

- Elevation gain is 2000 feet
- Elevation loss is 2100 feet.
- Runner will top out 6640 feet above sea level.
Rest Stops
There will be 10 rest stops located on the course. Seven of these will be complete stops with water, electrolyte replacement and gels. There will also be a compliment of salty and sweet snacks and fruit. Two of the rest stops will be hydration only serving water and electrolyte replacement drinks.

Both Fruita Hotel locations are within walking distance to the finish line.
La Quinta Inn - You must book by 10/13 to receive special rate. Cancellations must be made by 10/31 to avoid penalty. Each room has a mini-fridge, microwave, and coffeemaker. Continental breakfast is included with room.

Start/Finish Line Information
Being that this race is a point to point marathon there will be transportation provided to all participants from the finish line area to the start location.
START LINE
- Is located at the Colorado Gem & Minerals Club -
2328 Monument Road, Grand Junction CO. ALL participants will be shuttled to the start location from the finish line area located at James M Robb Colorado River State Park, Fruita CO.
FINISH LINE
- Is located inside James M Robb Colorado River State Park Fruita CO. There is a $2 fee for parking for all participants that will be collected by the park upon entry.
Shuttles

This is a point to point marathon and we will be providing shuttles to the start location.
Special Note: Please be advised if you choose to drive to the start location there is minimal to no parking available. We STRONGLY urge everyone to utilize the shuttle system. Also, there will be NO POST EVENT SHUTTLES.
Awards/Prime/Prizes
There will be age group awards given as well as the top relay team will receive awards.
There will be a $100 Prime for the fastest MALE and FEMALE runner to reach Cold Shivers. You must complete the marathon in order to be eligible for the prime.
Each participant will receive a race shirt, a post race lunch compliments of Einstein Bros Bagels, and a finisher medal (please note to be guaranteed a race shirt and medal you must be registered by no later than 10/30).
Timing
Racing Underground will be the official timing company for the 2011 Rim Rock Marathon. Runners will receive their race chips at the start line location.
Directions to Finish Line area and Start Shuttles
Take I-70 (east or west) to exit 19, go south on CO-340 approximately 4/10 of a mile to the park entrance on your right.

Payment/Refund/Discount Policy
No refunds will be allowed for any Ascent Productions, Inc events (hereafter "API"), regardless of the reasons. If an athlete registers for any API event and cannot attend due to illness, injuries or personal reasons your registration fee will not be refunded, but rather you will be given a partial discount for the same event for the following year. Please see your account at IMATHLETE (imathlete.com).
Weather Policy
This is a rain or shine event. No refunds will be given due to inclement weather.
